PrinceternshipThe Princeternship Program offers Princeton undergraduates the opportunity to explore a career of interest and make professional contacts by interacting with alumni in their workplaces. Typically performed during school vacations, students visit a mentor for 1-3 days, providing a brief introduction to a career field without a long-term commitment. World Medical MissionsDr. Armstrong and Dr. Shaw have both served overseas with World Medical Missions at the AIC-CURE Children’s Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya. Dr. Shaw volunteered in 2003 with his father James Shaw Jr., M.D. Dr. Shaw’s experience with cleft lip and palate deformities was an inspiration to his study of ENT and facial plastic surgery. Dr. Armstrong served in the summer of 2009, in partnership with The Smile Train. Mission of Hope, BoliviaIn the spring of 2007, Dr. Armstrong served at the Mission of Hope in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. While the team performed a wide range of ENT procedures, Dr. Armstrong’s expertise was primarily employed to reconstruct children born without external ears. |

International Hospital for Children, BelizeDr Shaw traveled in 2007 with a group of Facial Plastic surgeons to perform surgery for patients with cleft lip and palate and other facial deformities. |

FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic Violence ProjectWe participate in FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic Violence Project, which provides free care to uninsured victims of domestic violence. |

Access NowOur physicians participate with over 800 specialty physicians in the greater Richmond area who provide free care to qualified patients without health insurance. Many of these present with advanced and complicated medical problems after years without access to care. Crossover MinistryCrossover Ministry was founded in 1983 to provide care to the uninsured in urban Richmond. Dr. Armstrong and his family literally built the walls of the second clinic, which is housed in the basement of Shelbourne United Methodist Church in Chesterfield. A third clinic near Regency Square serves the uninsured in West End Henrico. |
The Love of Jesus ClinicOriginally called the Commonwealth Clinic, the Love of Jesus Clinic was founded in 2003 and was the first free health clinic in Chesterfield county. |

The Lackey Free ClinicThe Lackey Free Clinic was started by Dr Shaw’s father and mother in 1995 and has provided a source of inspiration and purpose throughout Dr Shaw’s career as a physician. The clinic provides free medical exams, chronic care treatment, lab work, x-rays, dental care and free medication to the disadvantaged living in the Virginia Peninsula area. |

The Richmond Eye and Ear FoundationDr. Armstrong is on the board of directors of the Richmond Eye and Ear Foundation, which has given over one million dollars in charitable contributions to the community since Richmond Eye and Ear Hospital evolved into Stony Point Surgery Center. |
