William L. Wilkes, MD was one of the first ENT doctors in Richmond to offer allergy management and has practiced ENT in Richmond for more than 31 years. He directly addresses your concerns and talks simply to explain your condition and treatment options. Dr. Wilkes is board-certified in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and his special interests include balance concerns, hearing disorders, ear diseases, and allergic diseases of the ears, nose, and throat.
Dr. Wilkes sees patients at both our Stony Point and Glenside locations seeing all ENT concerns. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Georgia in 1963 and graduated from medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in 1967. Dr. Wilkes completed his internship in Pediatric Medicine and Residency in Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Virginia . He then completed a fellowship in Otology at the Richmond Children’s Hospital and a preceptorship at The Los Angeles Foundation of Otology . He was certified with the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1974. Dr. Wilkes also served our country in the United States Air Force , stationed in Vandenberg AFB, CA from 1973 – 1975, achieved the Rank of Major and Chief of Otolaryngology & Allergy. He is a member of the Medical Society of Virginia and the Richmond Academy of Medicine . He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and the A.E.D. Pre-Med Honor Society American Academy of Ophthalmic & Otolaryngic Allergy, and of the Divers Alert Network as a Consulting Otolaryngologist.
Before joining Richmond ENT, Dr. Wilkes worked with Dr. Alvin Goldstone at ENT Specialists of Central Virginia which merged with Richmond ENT in October 2016.
In his spare time Dr. Wilkes enjoys visiting his 7 grandchildren and taking his wife out on dates to the movies and dinner.
