Richmond’s Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists

We welcome adults and children of all ages. We have dedicated pediatric exam rooms and an experienced staff that includes nurses from pediatric hospital floors and child care facilities. Almost all surgeries are performed in our attached, fully-accredited Stony Point Surgery Center, so your child need not fear going to the hospital. Whether earaches, tonsillitis or allergies, we will be sure to spend extra time with you and your child.

Pediatric ENT

Ears

Otitis media (middle ear infection) is the most common reason a sick child will see any physician, and the most common reason a child will undergo surgery. We place hundreds of tubes in the ears every year, but your child will receive loving, individual attention at all times. Other common ear problems include swimmer’s ear, hearing loss, and congenital deformities.

Nose

Allergies, sinusitis and adenoid hypertrophy all interact with each other and with the ears, contributing to middle ear infections, stuffy and runny noses, snoring and mouth breathing. We will work closely with you to determine the cause of the problem and the best treatment for your child, whether your child requires medication, surgery or allergy desensitization. Afraid of needles? No problem! Any child who requires allergy testing and ENT surgery can be tested under anesthesia during the surgery!

Throat

Tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy is the second most common ENT surgery of all. No longer a routine “rite of passage,” surgery is reserved for those with recurrent strept throat, tonsillitis or obstruction. We also see children with tongue-tie, speech delay, hoarseness, swallowing problems and other airway issues.

Prevention

Environmental and hereditary risk factors, as well as intermittent exposures to germs and allergens, determines the probability of your child to be sick. Day care participation, obesity, second-hand tobacco smoke, poor hand washing, excessive noise exposure are preventable risk factors that contribute to poor ENT health.
