Allergies
Every ENT specialist is trained to provide allergy testing and immunotherapy. Afraid of needles? Many of our patients choose sublingual allergy drops (under the tongue). Patients who need ENT surgery can even be allergy tested under anesthesia. Dr. Armstrong has completed the fellowship examination of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
Nasal Obstruction
If you have trouble breathing through your nose, we can almost certainly help. Whether you have large adenoids, sinusitis, allergies, a deviated septum, large turbinates, or a broken, twisted nose, we have the equipment and training to diagnose and treat every condition related to the nose.
Sinusitis
Facial pain, foul drainage and nasal congestion are among the most common reasons patients visit Richmond ENT. With a video endoscopic examination, we can often show you the problem on the first visit. We are the regional leader in less invasive sinus surgery techniques, and can often perform needed procedures right in the office. If you have delayed care for fear of pain, packing and prolonged recovery, it may be time to talk.
Balloon Sinuplasty
If you have blockage of the sinuses, traditional surgery may be unnecessary. With balloon dilation, a thin flexible catheter is passed through the opening to stretch it with little or no tissue removal. This gentle technique is often performed in the office, and patients commonly return to work the next day. Richmond ENT is Virginia’s leader in research and teaching balloon-assisted sinus surgery.
Cosmetic Nasal Surgery
Commonly considered the most difficult of all cosmetic surgery procedures, rhinoplasty is our favorite operation. Cosmetic surgery on the nose is truly a three-dimensional sculpture, performed using curved and bendable cartilages under a skin cover that varies in thickness and mobility. As both otolaryngologists and facial plastic surgeons we are experts at making your nose look better and function better. It is as much a joy for us as it will be for you when we take off the bandage.
Reconstructive Nasal Surgery
Patients are often referred to us for removal or reconstruction of skin cancers on the nose. As experts in cosmetic and functional nasal surgery, we apply the same care to deformities caused by cancer, injury or congenital deformities. We always tag team with a local pathologist or Mohs surgeon to ensure complete tumor removal before we begin reconstruction.
Xoran MiniCAT CT Scanner
The Xoran MiniCAT is designed to provide high-resolution images of the sinuses, skull base and temporal bone at a low-dose of radiation. The MiniCAT is more comfortable, accessible, convenient and safe than the large, multi-purpose fullbody CT scanners found in hospitals and imaging centers. It also allows us to serve you better; by offering this service at our facilities, we can diagnose your problem and begin your treatment plan as soon as possible.
